May is one of the best times to live in North Myrtle Beach. The weather is warming up, the calendar is filling with events, and more people are out enjoying everything the area has to offer. It is a busy, fun time of year, and here at Cherry Grove Automotive, we know that also means more driving. It is a great time to make sure your vehicle is ready for everything May brings.

Myrtle Beach Bike Week

May 8th-May 17th this year, Bike Week brings a lot of energy to the area, along with a significant increase in traffic. Approximately 300,000 to 400,000 visitors are expected along the Grand Strand for the annual Spring Myrtle Beach Bike Rally. This 10-day event includes a variety of motorcycle activities and draws large crowds, especially in areas like Murrells Inlet and along the coast.

With that many people on the road, it is important to stay alert, give motorcycles plenty of space, and expect heavier traffic than usual. Stop and go driving can put extra stress on your vehicle, especially if your brakes or tires are already worn.

Ocean Drive Beach Music Festival

The Ocean Drive Beach Music Festival is a local favorite, bringing live music, dancing, and a great crowd right to North Myrtle Beach. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, May 3 from 11 AM to 6 PM at the OD Pavilion area.

With more people heading into the area, expect increased traffic and limited parking. If you are planning to spend the day out, make sure your vehicle is ready for the extra driving and stop and go conditions.

Myrtle Beach Classic PGA Event

The Myrtle Beach Classic brings professional golf to the area and draws large crowds throughout the week. The tournament runs Thursday, May 8 through Sunday, May 11, with daily play typically starting in the morning and continuing into the afternoon at Dunes Golf and Beach Club.

Any time there is a major event like this, traffic patterns change and roads get busier. It is a good idea to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and make sure your vehicle is in good shape before heading out.

Blue Crab Festival

The Blue Crab Festival is one of the biggest events in the area, bringing thousands of people to the waterfront in Little River. The festival takes place Saturday, May 17 from 9 AM to 6 PM and Sunday, May 18 from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Heavy traffic, crowded parking areas, and longer drive times are all part of the experience. If your A/C is not working properly or your vehicle has been acting up, this is when you will really notice it.

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo brings people out to enjoy local restaurants, events, and time with friends. That also means more cars on the road and more time spent driving around town. And it just happens to be on a Tuesday this year, making taco Tuesday even more important.

If your A/C is not blowing cold, you will notice it quickly. Warmer evenings and traffic can make even short drives uncomfortable if your system is not working properly.

The Farmer's Market is back Fridays from 10-3, located at 1st Avenue. Local events are picking up throughout May. From live music to beach activities, there is always something happening.

More events mean more driving, more parking, and more time on the road. This is when small issues can start to show up, especially in warmer weather.

With traffic increases, temperatures rising, patience and vehicles are pushed harder with longer drives and heavier use.

This is one of the most important times to make sure your A/C system, cooling system, and overall vehicle condition are in good shape.
